We are done with note taking and research! All students should have notes taken and organized for their Activism topic. Please ask your scholar to see their research and have a conversation about what they’ve learned so far. If they don’t have any notes taken, they are behind and this is definitely now homework.
Today, we went over the scoring checklist for the paper. All students have a paper copy, can view it digitally through iTunesU and here is a link in case you want to see it too! If students are working on their writing at home, they should have the checklist by them to make sure they’re hitting all the important components of the essay. We also looked at an exemplar writing example today. The example has explanation boxes as to what makes this piece of writing well done. You can see the sample writing here. Students also have access to it digitally, but did not get a paper copy (I only made enough for one class set).
This week we will be working on HANDWRITING their rough drafts! Yes, all scholars will be using pen/pencils and paper to write their rough draft. Please make sure your scholar has pens or pencils; this is becoming a big problem again. Next week, we will be revising and editing the essays. Then students will be publishing their essays on their iPads the week after. This process should be able to be done in class as long as time is being used effectively! Feel free to check in day to day to see what your scholar has accomplished! Thanks for all your help and support!
Lane PTA would like your help in hosting our first March Madness on Friday March 13th from 6pm-8:30pm. We’re planning to have concessions, basketball shoot out, karaoke, ping pong, foosball, human hungry hippo and much more! In order for us to make this a success, we’re looking for volunteers to help supervise our scholars during the event to ensure they all have a great time!
All volunteers will receive a free concession item and beverage, so please consider helping for 1 hour or 2, whatever works best.
Please sign up through this designated link or if you have any questions/comments, feel free to email PTA at email@example.com.

You can now turn your order forms in until March 11th!
This is for the 600 minutes of reading through 6 Flags.
All students that complete this and turn in the slip get a FREE ticket to 6 Flags Great America!
We just got back from our AMAZING McFarland USA movie field trip!
We were all very impressed with how well behaved all of our scholars were throughout the whole trip.
They made Lane VERY proud and should make you all proud too.
The movie was great and shared a motivational message!
Have a conversation with your scholar tonight about the perseverance the McFarland runners showed!
Thanks again to the PTA for funding our transportation!
Friday February 27th will be the final day for submitting the Six Flags reading logs.
This is a great opportunity for a FUN summer trip!
Each student that reads 600 minutes will get a FREE ticket to Six Flags Great America!
Do you have Box Tops to still submit but keep forgetting to send them with your scholar?
Bring them to Conferences on Thursday night!
There will be a Box Top collection box on the main table where you pick up Progress Reports.
The deadline for this year’s submission is Monday, 3/2,
so this is our last chance to earn money from Box Tops this school year.
Thanks for your continued support! – Lane Intermediate PTA
